Nevada's permit knowledge test is 50 questions, and you need 40 correct (about 80%) to pass.
Pick an answer on each question to see whether you got it right, with an explanation.
This is a short sample — DriveDrill has 200+ Nevada questions
and full-length mock exams in the app.
Q1. In Nevada, the maximum posted speed limit on urban interstate highways is:
A 60 mph
B 55 mph
C 70 mph
D 65 mph
Urban interstates are held to a lower maximum than open rural highway, because of interchange spacing and traffic volume.
Q2. When there is no adjacent lane to move into, how much clearance must a Nevada driver give a bicyclist when passing?
A At least three feet
B At least six inches
C Exactly one traffic lane width
D At least one foot
When a motorist cannot move into an adjacent lane to pass a bicyclist, Nevada law requires passing to the left of the bicycle at a safe distance of at least three feet.
Q3. A driver is following you too closely. The safest response is to:
A Turn on your hazard lights and keep speed
B Brake sharply to warn them
C Speed up to open the gap
D Slow gradually and let them pass
Increase your own space cushion and give them a chance to go by. Brake-checking turns their mistake into your crash.
Q4. Driving far below the speed limit when conditions are good:
A Is always safest
B Can be dangerous and may be a violation
C Is required of new drivers
D Is allowed in any lane
Traffic that moves at very different speeds causes crashes. If you must go slow, stay right and let others pass.
Q5. In Nevada, a driver under 21 is over the limit with:
A 0.02% or higher
B 0.01% or higher
C any detectable amount of alcohol
D 0.05% or higher
The under-21 threshold is far below the 0.08% adult limit, so roughly one drink can reach it. The licence consequence is administrative and starts before any court date.
Q6. A flagger in a work zone holds up a sign reading SLOW. You should:
A Stop until the sign is turned
B Slow down and pass through with caution
C Change lanes immediately
D Maintain speed if the lane is open
Flaggers have the same authority as signs and signals in a work zone. Follow their direction and watch for workers on foot.
Q7. An unrestrained pet in the car is a problem because:
A It can distract the driver and be injured in a sudden stop
B It is illegal in all states
C It affects fuel economy
D It voids your insurance
Secure pets in a carrier or harness. Several states treat an animal in your lap as distracted driving.
Q8. Your brakes fail while driving. You should:
A Put the car in reverse
B Turn off the engine immediately
C Pump the pedal, shift to a lower gear, then use the parking brake gradually
D Steer into oncoming traffic to slow down
Pump to build pressure, downshift for engine braking, apply the parking brake gradually, and look for an open escape path or an uphill slope.
Q9. In Nevada, how close to a fire hydrant may you legally park where parallel parking is permitted?
A There is no set distance as long as you do not block access
B No closer than 5 feet in any case
C No closer than 15 feet (20 feet where angle parking is permitted)
D No closer than 50 feet in any case
Nevada law sets a specific no-parking zone around fire hydrants: within 15 feet where parallel parking is allowed, or within 20 feet where angle parking is allowed.
Q10. Another driver is passing you. You should:
A Speed up to shorten the pass
B Stay in your lane and keep a steady speed or slow slightly
C Move onto the shoulder
D Brake hard to open a gap
Speeding up while being passed strands the other driver in the oncoming lane. Hold your line and let them complete the pass.
