Privacy Policy

What the app stores, and where

Everything the app stores about you stays on your device:

• The state and licence type you chose.
• Which questions you have answered, whether you got them right, and which you bookmarked.
• Your mock exam history.
• How many free practice questions and mock exams you have used today and this week.
• If you set them: your test date, and the time for practice reminders. Reminders are scheduled by your iPhone itself; nothing is sent to us or to any server.
• Your learning-map progress: lessons passed, level and daily streak.

This lives in your iPhone's local storage, and it is deleted when you delete the app. We cannot see it, apart from the few study-plan details and study counts the app also stores with RevenueCat (see Purchases).

Sharing your score

If you tap Share my score after passing a mock exam, the app makes a picture of your score and a short message with a link to drivedrill.app, on your iPhone, and opens the iPhone share sheet. You choose where they go, if anywhere; nothing is sent to us. If you choose Save Image, your iPhone asks your permission before adding the picture to Photos.

iCloud sync (optional, off by default)

If you turn on Sync progress with iCloud in Settings, the same information is copied to your own private iCloud storage so it appears on your other devices. That data goes to Apple under your Apple Account and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it. You can turn the setting off at any time.

Purchases

Purchases made in the app are processed by Apple. Apart from a Pass Guarantee claim you choose to send, we never see your name, payment details or Apple Account.

Paying online (parent link): if a parent pays through the link the app can send, the checkout page is run by RevenueCat and the card payment is processed by Stripe. The person paying gives their email address and card details there. We see that email address and the purchase in RevenueCat, and use them only to send receipts and to handle cancellations, refunds and Pass Guarantee claims. We never see the card number. The link carries the random ID of the learner's installation, so the purchase unlocks that copy of the app. Stripe's privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.

We use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) to check purchases and to count trials, subscriptions, renewals, cancellations and refunds. When you buy, restore, or a subscription renews, the app and Apple send RevenueCat a record of your purchases: which plan, when, the price and currency, and whether it is a free trial, active, cancelled or refunded. This record is kept under a random ID that RevenueCat creates for this installation of the app. It is not linked to your name, email, Apple Account or any other app, and we do not use it to track you or to advertise to you. With that record the app also sends RevenueCat the device's identifier for vendor (an ID Apple gives each app on a device, not shared with other companies' apps), the device model, and, if you allow study reminders, the device's push token. RevenueCat also sees the IP address of each request. These are used only to count installs and purchases and to keep the record working; they are not linked to you and are never used for tracking or advertising.

When you finish setup, the app also stores with RevenueCat, under the same random installation ID, a few study-plan details: how many days until your test (not the date itself), whether a test date is set, your answers to the readiness and daily-study-time questions, your age range, whether it is your first time taking the test, whether you chose car, CDL or motorcycle, your state, the app version, your iPhone model and iOS version, and how many seconds each setup and offer screen was open. If you later change or clear your test date, the first two are updated. The first name you can type during setup stays on your iPhone and is never sent. These details are used only to see how people use the app and how the trial works; they are never linked to you and never used for advertising.

To show newer pictures and animations during setup, the app may download them from drivedrill.app. That request carries no ID and no cookies, but, like any web request, our host sees your IP address. We do not log or use it.

On that same anonymous record the app also keeps a few counts and yes/no answers, so we can see how the app and its plans are doing: what happened on the plans screen (seen, closed, the app left while it was open, or purchased), whether you opened the Pass Guarantee link, how many practice questions and mock exams you have done, your best mock exam score, whether you have passed a mock exam, whether practice reminders are on, how far you got through the pages before the plans screen, and whether you opened the subscription management screen. Never the questions or answers themselves, never your test date, and never anything typed. These are never linked to you and never used for advertising.

Managing your subscription: Settings › Manage Subscription opens a screen provided by RevenueCat where you can cancel, restore purchases or ask Apple for a refund. If you answer its optional question about why you are cancelling, your answer is stored with RevenueCat on the same anonymous record. Refund requests go to Apple, which decides them.

If you installed DriveDrill after tapping one of our ads in App Store search results, Apple provides an attribution token that tells us which search ad campaign and keyword led to the install. It contains no personal information, it is sent once per installation, and it does not require, and the app does not show, an App Tracking Transparency prompt.

Pass Guarantee claims: if you claim, you email us your failed result, a screenshot from the app, your Apple receipt and, if we pay you directly, your PayPal email. We use them only to check and pay the claim, keep them for 90 days after the claim closes, then delete them. You may cover your licence number, date of birth and address on the result before sending it.

What we do not do

• Apart from a Pass Guarantee claim you choose to send, we do not collect names, email addresses or phone numbers.
• We do not use advertising or tracking SDKs. The only third-party SDK in the app is RevenueCat, which counts purchases under an anonymous ID (see Purchases). It gives us no way to identify you, and it is not used for advertising.
• We do not track you across apps or websites, and the app shows no App Tracking Transparency prompt because there is nothing to track.
• We do not sell or share data. Purchase records stay with RevenueCat, which processes them for us.

Children

DriveDrill is rated 4+ and is commonly used by teenagers preparing for a learner permit. Apart from a Pass Guarantee claim you choose to send, we collect no personal information from anyone, children included. What the app sends from the device is the anonymous record described under Purchases: purchases, a few study-plan details and study counts, never linked to a person.

Your rights

Apart from a Pass Guarantee claim you choose to send, we hold no personal data that identifies you. The anonymous record is tied only to this installation, and nothing in it identifies you, so we cannot find it from an email. Deleting the app ends it: a new installation starts a new, empty record. Questions: support@drivedrill.app. To remove everything else the app stores, delete the app, or use Reset progress for this state in Settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
